Speaking of the 7.7, I finally got all of TL's past EQs matched and went back over all the PRs, looking for a match, and it was strange. There were a number of PRs from the past which would match the 7.7 in time, but each one was only two mintues in duration and this is hardly enough time for a 7.7. It should get a 30M at the least. So I looked at the EQ's depth; 116.2km. This is pretty deep into the earth and under the crust and sea floor. Then, I had a terrible thought; what if the 7.7 is a foreshock for someting much larger? Makes no sense to consider this possibility, but what if? The depth of the quake may explain why a tsunami did not form, but could it have caused the destroyer's wave? Maybe, from what Steve posted. Anyhow, having no other choice, I matched the 7.7 as shown:
2MM 1/21/97 1156+3 days S 3/23/00 7.7 3/28 VOLCANO IS. E/N 4+1 days.
During the time I have been documenting my EQ sensitivty, there has come several times when the pattern I was working with suddenly changed. I would take me weeks to realize that a change had occurred. Then I would have to stop and reevaluate the entire line of data. Always the change was logical, but why the change remained a mystery. TL has undergone another such change and I haven't gotten a complete handle on it even yet. The SPs are matching without a problem now that it is obvious that I no longer get a SP for 5.0, 5.1 and aftershock 5.2s. Why? I have no idea. My attention has been diverted to the volcanoes and my high blood pressure. Had there been no volcanic eruptions, I would be beginning to worry about the BP. It's been consistently high for awhile now and this is new across the two years of having it. But Etna blew big time, Monserrat erupted small time, the one in Ecuador hasn't stopped blewing ash, steam and gases and now there's the EQ in Japan threatening to blow big time.
I had an off and on again almost headache today. My shower after work took care of it, but I noticed it got worse when I sat on the ground and would lessen while I worked on my feet. The up and down of it makes me think volcano. The one in Japan fits the bill for now.
